With rising demands for crude oil and petroleum products, it is important to ensure a continuous and reliable supply. Transportation of oil and gas using pipelines is the most economic and reliable way for higher volume of production. Oil, gas and even multiphase well fluid are transported using pipelines to ensure energy needs are met without any disruption.

Pipeline projects involve large scale investment. To minimize the risk, we help our customer from concept to commissioning with strong engineering and project management strength to realize objective of the project successfully. Execution of these projects is critical and challenging as pipeline can pass difficult terrain or require subsea construction.


Pipeline design is challenging and requires high level skills to address design issues. The major steps in pipeline system design involve establishment of critical pipeline performance objectives and critical engineering design parameters such as:

  • Required throughput
  • Origin and destination points
  • Fluid properties such as viscosity and specific gravity
  • Topography of pipeline route
  • Location of pipeline as onshore or offshore or both
  • Maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP)
  • Hydraulic calculations to determine slug flow or two-phase flow
  • Pipeline diameter, wall thickness, and required yield strengths
  • Configuration of pump or compressor booster stations
  • Optimization of pipeline diameter versus pump or compressor costs
  • Need for corrosion-resistant coating on outside or inside of pipeline

The fluid behavior due to terrain and surrounding environment, including water for offshore pipelines, leads to continuous change in fluid properties. The design of the pipelines has to incorporate the impact of these outside forces to ensure mechanical integrity and safety.

To ensure successful execution of the project, the following studies need to be done:

  • Survey and Mapping
  • Soil and Geology Studies
  • Transient flow analysis
  • Surge analysis

  • Leak Detection System (Direct or Inferential)
  • Isolation Valves and ESD System
  • Distribution Terminals
  • Pigging System
  • Booster Compressor or Pump Stations
